Joan Slifka is a renowned artist and jewelry designer known for creating limited edition, one-of-a-kind whimsical jewelry with a distinct "cowgirl" flair. These bold, highly collectible pieces have gained her a following all over the world. Originally from New York, Joan moved to Denver in the 1970s, where her passion for jewelry led her take jewelry-making classes. This love for jewelry and art which began in childhood, has been the driving force behind her unique and timeless creations. In 1988, she officially founded Joan Slifka Designs in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joan is best known for her signature piece—the turquoise heart charm bracelet. The magic of her designs lies in the details, like the delicate stamping on the silver and of course the hidden charms on the back of each heart, adding an element of surprise and fun. Her motto has always been, "The bigger, the better!" and those who collect her jewelry agree! Joan's pieces incorporate semi-precious stones such as turquoise, spiny oyster, dolomite, denim lapis, and onyx. Collectors often say there’s something indescribable about owning a piece of Joan Slifka jewelry that makes it eternally sought after.
